Women just aren’t allowed to be comfortable. When you’re of a certain age, if you try to put on some comfy clothes, everyone starts thinking you must be pregnant. I had it happen to me, and now it’s happening to Miley Cyrus. But relax — she is assuring everyone she is not preggo.
Miley posted a picture of herself getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner. She’s wearing a giant t-shirt and is intentially pooching her belly out. And we know she’s pooching her belly out as we see her every week on “The Voice” and know she has a cute little figure and does not have a beer belly, food belly, or baby belly.
She wrote a caption that some people apparently believed meant she was eating tofurkey for two this year. “So close to b-day time! Stoked for a day full of Tofurkey & loved ones! Ain’t it ironic? #VeganTurkeyBaby” But she says right there, “VeganTurkeyBaby.”
But that didn’t stop people from thinking she had a little Hemsworth bun in the oven. But that wasn’t the case. She was simply celebrating Thanksgiving with Tofurkey and celebrating her 25th birthday.
She later posted to Instagram Stories, “Not pregnant, just eating a sh– ton of Tofurkey … RUDE!!!!”
Men never have to worry about people scrutinizing their bellies trying to figure out if they’re pregnant. But it’s something all women of childbearing age need to deal with.
I went through it myself. I wore jeans everyday to work save for once a week when I’d throw on a skirt. Stretch pants were in style, so I decided to start working that into my wardrobe.
Within an hour of getting to work, there was a rumor that I was pregnant.
The rumors were so insistent, they even had my dad, who also worked there, wondering.
Nope. Just being comfy in stretch pants, which a few months later when I did become pregnant, really came in handy, but I was still called out once again anyway.
So Miley, I feel your pain. And you’re right, it is rude.
