TIME Magazine and Celebs Call Trump Out on His ‘Man of the Year’ Tweet

So TIME Magazine called and said I would probably be named blogger of the year. However, I would have to write my own acceptance speech, and they would be publishing my blog and giving me more publicity, so I passed and told them just to give the honor to someone else.

Seriously, that would be the most ridiculous thing for me to say, and it would obviously be the biggest lie, so I’d never get away with saying it. And that’s why I wouldn’t say it, tweet it, blog it, whatever. But apparently the Narcissist-in-Chief doesn’t get that.

He tweeted, “Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named ‘Man (Person) of the Year’ like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!”

It was so obviously a lie, and there was absolutely no one who believed it, save for maybe his supporters who have believed all his other ridiculous thoughts. But the Man/Person of the Year is voted on by the public. So this is something that would never even happen as the periodical informed the public.

TIME Magazine had the cojones to go ahead and call him out for his lie. “The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6,” they tweeted of the man who has also been known to hang fake TIME covers in his golf clubs.

Celebrities then decided to have a little fun with this ridiculousness as well.

Julie Louis-Dreyfus took time out of her breast cancer treatment to post, “@nytimes just called to say I was PROBABLY going to be named comedienne of the year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway! @andy_murray.”

Mark Hamill followed that with, “Time Magazine called to say that I was DEFINITELY going to be named ‘Man (Person) of the Year,’ but I would have to agree to leak major #Ep8 spoilers. I said ‘no problem,’ but then they told me you turned it down, and now I don’t want it anymore. Thanks anyway!”

Patton Oswalt commented on a Jordan Peele filming, tweeting, “All these films are amazing and I love you @JordanPeele, but I hope FLORIDA PROJECT wins. Don’t hate me.”

Peele commented back using the Trump/TIME humor. “Patton Oswalt called to say that he was going to tweet that GET OUT was PROBABLY his favorite movie of the year, but I would have to agree to get lunch with him and do a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!”

Dave Foley added, “The Bible just called to say I was PROBABLY going to be named Messiah, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably was no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway.”

What Trump will never understand, as he’s too narcissistic, is that each one of these, including Dave Foley’s, is just as ridiculous as what he posted.
